Week 2 Assignment: EMS Career Speech for High School Students
This week, we’re focusing on capturing and maintaining your audience’s attention while motivating them to act.
🎯 Your Task:
Create a video speech aimed at a novice audience of high school students attending a career fair. Your goal is to inspire them to consider a career in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) — not the fire service.
This speech should feel authentic, motivational, and energetic. Even though EMS may feel like a step outside your usual presentation zone, it’s an important skill to master, especially in outreach and recruitment.
🗣️ Speech Requirements:
- Audience: High school students at a job/career fair
- Length: Minimum of 4 minutes
- Topic: A career in EMS, not fire service
- Style: Motivational and engaging — think real-world, relatable, and enthusiastic
- Format: A video of you speaking (no music slideshows or narrated presentations)
- Delivery: Upload your video to YouTube
- Set the video to Public
- Submit the YouTube link in the assignment
- Do NOT upload the video file directly
📝 You Will Be Graded On:
- Introduction: Do you introduce yourself and connect with the audience?
- Motivation: How well do you inspire students to see EMS as a career path?
- Audience Engagement: Do you maintain interest and speak in a relatable tone?
